OLD BUSINESS:

The plastic ID cards that were to be done by Tinley Park can’t be done.

John Dobner has done some research on ID card makers.  The one he believes will do what we need costs about $1420.

Motion by Art Johnson to buy the ID machine 2nd by Joe Kuba.

Amendments to the By-Laws were submitted to amend Article II to add (d) & (e) also Article III change (f).  First reading for amendments was tonight.   Need to be read at 2 more meetings and voted on.

NEW BUSINESS:

You should check with your community on the update on alert status that FBI sent out.  Next 2 weeks could be critical.

Does your organization pay for sirens and their maintenance?  Some communities have this built into the ESDA budget others the community funds the expenses.  Dolton said they are on a limited budget now.  They now have to have all expenses approved even though they have a budget to run the department.  They aren’t the only ones in this situation other communities have budget freezes too.

John Dobner attended a presentation by DeVry Technology.  They talked about needing projects for their seniors to work on for experience.

(A) John would like to have DeVry bring the SMART Web Site up another notch.  The cost is nothing except for material DeVry would need to do the project.  DeVry will give us a projected cost ahead of time on the project.  One example John gave would be to have each Community able to update the information with passwords.

(B) Another suggestion John Dobner had was to have SMART web site, and any other towns web site, put on a server based somewhere in one of the SMART communities.  This is another project DeVry could give us a cost estimate on.

John will contact DeVry to see if we can get our name on the list to do the web site improvement project (A).

ADJOURNED at 20:58 February 13, 2003.  Motion by Sandy Patlak 2nd by Art Johnson to adjourn.

Respectfully Submitted,

Joe Pilch

SMART Secretary
