OLD BUSINESS:

Jim Dzurny talked about CERT Community Emergency Response Team training. He (Tinley Park) could train or have state come in and conduct a train the trainer class.

Some information about the course; 20 hours, 2 hours practical, scheduled Monday – Friday 7-10, class size is 20 people, location would be Tinley Park, manuals & guides are part of grant. On completion you receive a certificate & card and are registered through state. You in turn form a citizen Corp in your community, there isn’t a specific number of people you need to recruit to form this group.

CERT kits cost are about $40.00 a basic kit has; vest, gloves, goggles, etc.

CERT was started in California after disasters out there. Check out the FEMA web site for more information at www.fema.org.

Your Citizen Corp can include business, education, church, and other groups to form your own Citizen Corp.

NEW BUSINESS:

Country Club Hills was honored with receiving the Governor’s hometown award. Country Club Hills went to receive the award in September. One reason they won the award because their group membership expanded 4 times.

ADJOURNED at 20:45 August 14, 2003. Motion by Joe Kouba 2nd by John Ranieri.

Respectfully Submitted,

Joe Pilch
