MINUTES:

Motion to approve previous meeting minutes by Jeff Schoeling, 2nd by John Thomas.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:

Thanks to those that assisted at the Riverdale police officers funeral.

 

James Bibbs had very nice sympathy cards for SMART to mail out when needed.

 

TREASURER REPORT:

The March 31, 2004 balance in the checking account is $971.14, the money market has $4,748.13 the CD has $2939.16, the total of all accounts equals $8,658.43.

Motion by James Dean 2nd by John Thomas to accept treasurers’ report.

 

TRAINING:

Jim Dzurny has received training agreements back from the following communities; Chicago Heights, South Holland, Tinley Park, Steger, Rich Township, Thornton, Midlothian, Hometown, and Peotone.

 

Homeland Security guide was handed out by Jim Dzurny.

 

CERT class dates for May will be sent to Coordinators.

 

Midwest emergency preparedness conference is being held in Rockford.  The information was mailed to coordinators.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:

A SMART page was sent Thursday at 14:45 to alphanumeric pagers & NEXTEL phones.

 

West Com has a frequency change it is 154.355.

Bill Durgan said there is nothing new to report this month.

 

If you plan on attending the Shelter workshop by Red Cross make sure you have sent your RSVP.

 

There still hasn’t been a response on using the County frequencies.

 

Cook County Public Health sent out info fax to communities.

LEGISLATIVE LIAISON:

Raising of the death benefit for Law enforcement during line of service. Has gone away.  State declared disaster is covered.

 

Public partners answers questions online at www.pocketpartner.com.

 

IESMA (Illinois Emergency Services Management Association):

Conference will be April 14th –16th in East Peoria.  Filling up all ready and no information out yet.

 

IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency):

This years conference is September 7th, 8th, & 9th 2004 in Springfield at the Crown Plaza.  Make reservations online early.

 

RED CROSS LIAISON:

Moving next week to new building.  Close to Stroger & VA Hospital.

 

Member/Membership Status:

Manhattan still interested in joining SMART organization.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Does each town need to supply community maps or just staging areas?  It was agreed to make sure the staging areas are up to date.

 

SMART updates need to be to Joe Pilch, Bob Small or one of the officers with in the next month or 2.

 


NEW BUSINESS:

Bob Goldhammer from Community Alert Network gave presentation on how to alert people of problems in the town (some call it reverse 9-1-1).  CAN would maintain phone number database.  CAN will do the calls to the numbers in the area you want.  Has reports that show call was made to Telephone Number.  These reports can be  via faxed or emailed.  Cost based on populations $.21 per line. $7500 for Oak Forest (28,000) $5,000 renewal.  You get 5 copies of the mapping program.
