MINUTES:

Motion to approve previous meeting minutes by Joel Werner, 2nd by John Thomas.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:

IESMA paper talked about units responding to calls without being asked.

 

TREASURER REPORT:

The June 30, 2004 balance in the checking account is $885.14, the money market has $4,759.98 the CD has $2946.85, the total of all accounts equals $8,591.97.

July balances; checking $818.23, mm $4764.02, CD $2946.85, total $8529.10

Motion by John Ranieri 2nd by Ralph Turner to accept treasurers’ report.

 

TRAINING:

John Thomas handed out some info on antenna being put up by government that didn’t go as planned.

 

Dzurny October is CERT training.

 

Hometown is having flagger training Sept 18th 8:30 AM last 3hrs. free.  Call Jim Dean for reservations.

 

Region 7 hospitals Mass Casualty exercise Thursday 9/2.  This will be a secure training event.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:

A SMART page was sent Tuesday 19:10 & Thursday 14:15 to alphanumeric pagers & NEXTEL phones.

 

FIRE District 3 will change their procedures 154.280 will be Fire grd response.  The NIFERN channel will be used to correspond with Orland Central Dispatch.  None are narrow banded or have PL.  Remember: Orland Central Dispatch will only answer you on NIFERN.

 

Bob Small handed out some radio information to help everyone understand radio communications better.  Handouts on 9-1-1 dispatch centers, Ham radio, repeaters, etc. was given out to all communities present.

 

Need to know each community’s Communications Officer so a communications meeting can be set up.  If you don’t have a Communications Officer then the Coordinator will have to attend or assign someone to attend.  Communications issues need to be discussed and cleared up.

Kevin Philipps - Metra evacuation plan will make a train stop if problems arise.  If the train stops in your town you are responsible for the incident.

 

In the area of Homeland security Chicago & Cook County are one of the busiest areas.  Suburban Cook County is going to be divided into 3 regions and they are currently looking at equipment needs.  The committees will include Fire, police & public works.  Other departs will be on other committees.

 

NIMS concept is coming and everyone needs to comply.  Incident command & Unified command needs to be in place.  Need NIMS to be part of your Emergency plan.

 

County is surveying Fire Departments so they have a count of 1st responders.  This way they know the amount of prophylaxis they need on hand for dispensing to families.

 

Kevin Philipps introduced a new member to the Cook county EMA team Kevin Joyce.

The Metra rail plan Kevin Philipps explain for the Cook County plan is also happening in Will County.

 

Saturday August 21st Harold Damron will be teaching the Incident Command course 8:00 - 16:00 for reservations call 815-740-8351.

 

LEGISLATIVE LIAISON:

State statute on flashing lights in your personal car Sec 12-215 625ilcs.  To summarize emergency personnel (ESDA) can use red, blue, or white rotating lights on your dash.  Must have written authorization from community official and carried in your vehicle.

 

IESMA (Illinois Emergency Services Management Association):

Conference is April 14th –16th in East Peoria.

 


IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency):

This year’s conference is September 7th, 8th, & 9th 2004 in Springfield at the Crown Plaza.

 

If you haven’t attended the conference you should go.  It seems that the conference only gets better.

OLD BUSINESS:

Roger talked about Steger hosting ESDA fest and brought a sample plaque for all to view.  ESDA fest will be after the Home Town Heroes parade.

 

The units doing traffic control will meet at Steger ESDA garage at noon.  Roger is in need of traffic help during the parade.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Sandy thanked South Holland for help with gas line break.

 

 

Russ V thanks for helping on Gas leak to Oak Forest Mokena.
