MINUTES:

Motion to approve previous meeting minutes by Jim Dean, 2nd by John Ranieri.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:

Fire Department listing for pharmaceutical distribution was being asked for again.

 

Weather class is being held in the north subs, not sure of the college.

 

Homeland Security wants heads up to schools that are being used as election polling place.

 

Hometown Fire Department received information that placards on trucks or vehicles may stop being displayed.  This is a terrorism issue.

 

TREASURER REPORT:

The September 30, 2004 balance in the checking account is $1,518.23, the money market has $5,672.91 the CD has $2954.20, the total of all accounts equals $10,145.34.

September activity was; deposit in money market for $200 and $4.59 interest, CD interest $7.35.

Motion by Jeff Schoeling 2nd by Donna Werner to accept treasurers’ report.

Communities that have paid are; Blue Island, Cook County, CC Hills, Hometown, Lynwood, Mokena, Oak Forest, Palos Park, Peotone, Rich Township, Riverdale, Sauk Village, South Holland, Steger, Thornton, Tinley Park, and Will County.  (16 of 23)

 

TRAINING:

Hometown had flagger training Sept 18th 8:30 AM.  There were 20 people that attended from Blue Island, Crestwood, and Lynwood.

 

GSR (Ground Search & Rescue) is 10/23-24 in Steger.  Roger asked each community if they were planning to participate.  Light trucks need to be at 32nd & Morgan at 5:30 PM for about 3 hours.  This is about 6 blocks west of Chicago Rd.

 

CERT training is scheduled to start the first Tuesday in November (11/2).  There will be no CERT training scheduled for December.

 

Unified command class will be held at Double Tree in Alsip 11/17 check with your Fire Department.  Or go to the National Fire Academy site.  It can be accessed through FEMA site or just about any government site.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:

A SMART page was sent Wednesday 10/20 about 4:15 PM to alphanumeric pagers & NEXTEL phones.

 

Bob Small talked about PL on radio frequencies.  He also talked about antennas.  Antennas can’t be close together because they will interfere with other radios.

Recess can’t hurt us.

 

IESMA (Illinois Emergency Services Management Association):

April 14th –16th in East Peoria.

 

IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency):

2005 conference is September 6th, 7th, & 8th in Springfield at the Crown Plaza.

 

RED CROSS LIAISON:

Train the trainer shelter operations course is available.  Cost of the course is free the books will cost you $11.00.  If you want one in your community call Red Cross.

 

CCDPH:

Not present

 

Member/Membership Status:

Palos Park sent in a membership check, but a SMART application form has not been received yet.

 

Manhattan still pending approval by board?

 

Plainfield has been receiving emails, but haven’t received any response yet.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Roger presented an award to Midlothian for participation.

 

Mike Tryon looked into having the SMART for Christmas party at Bartolenni’s at 145th & Pulaski in Midlothian.  December’s 2nd Thursday of the month is the 9th.  We can have the room from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.  Motion to pay a deposit of $5.00 per person to Bartolenni’s by Bill Potocki 2nd Art Johnson.  Remember each community is allowed 3 people to attend.  We will need a head count ASAP.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Motion to order 500 SMART patches by Art Johnson 2nd by Jeff Schoeling.

At the Hometown Council meeting they asked the Department heads to stop making purchases because of tax increase.

 

Peotone thanked New Lenox and Manhatten for responding to fire.  Red Cross had housing within 3-4 hours.

 

Midlothian thanked the communities that helped with traffic for their Police Chief funeral.
