MINUTES:
Motion to approve previous meeting minutes by John Thomas, 2nd by John Levon.
CORRESPONDENCE:
Bob Small handed out memorandum from SSMMA clarifying Homeland Security funding.
TREASURER REPORT:
The August 31, 2004 balance in the checking account is $1,518.23, the money market has $5,468.32 the CD has $2946.85, the total of all accounts equals $9,933.40.
August activity was; deposit in checking for $700, deposit in money market for $700 and $4.30 interest, no checks written.
Motion by Art Johnson 2nd by Joel Werner to accept treasurers’ report.
Communities that have paid are; Blue Island, CC Hills, Hometown, Lynwood, Oak Forest, Peotone, Rich Township, Riverdale, Sauk Village, South Holland, Steger, Thornton, Tinley Park, and Will County.
TRAINING:
Hometown is having flagger training Sept 18th 8:30 AM it is about 3hrs. There is no cost for this course.
Cook County is having training October 5, 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM Leadership training and 10/6 principles of EMA.
GSR (Ground Search & Rescue) isn’t planned yet but you can call Anthony Marzano at 815/740-8351 to find out when one may be planned.
Tinley Park will be hosting State class October 9 not sure which one.
CERT training is scheduled for October 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, & 21. In November it will start on the 1st Tuesday (11/2). There will be no CERT training scheduled for December.
FEMA region 5 is asking CERT to mobilize to assist in Florida after hurricane Frances. Jim Dzurny was asked if any CERT people wanted to be mobilized.
COMMUNICATIONS:
A SMART page was sent Tuesday 9/7 & Thursday 9/16 to alphanumeric pagers & NEXTEL phones. We had 15 failures on Thursday.
Bob Small passed out more info on how PL/Tone squelch/CTCSS systems work. He also explained with a diagram how a repeater works.
Bob Small handed out an updated list of PSAP phone numbers, and Ham radio members and call signs.

Kevin Joyce said training course on introduction to incident command is scheduled for October 20 3:00 PM –5:00 PM & 7:00 PM –9:00 PM in Country Side. Each session can have 30 people and Harold Damron will be the instructor.

Plainfield made an inquiry at IEMA to join SMART.
Palos Park wants to join our organization also. SMART application form has been sent to them. They do have an event going on needing help.
Manhatten still pending approval by board.

Thanks from Roger 13 Jurisdictions showed up for ESDA fest. Next year it may be on Saturday evening.

Cook County is looking for EOC’s on the southeast Lansing and South Holland are being considered. Chicago Heights may be another location to check out. EOC’s should be something like Tinley Park or Will County have.
NIMS to be passed by Oct 1, 2005. FEMA web site has info on NIMS if you need more information.
James Bibbs said thanks to Oak Forest EMA for assistance to Markham shooting.
Tinley Park had person hit by Metra train. Metra does have a company come out to recover body and clean area.
