TREASURER REPORT:

Whenever there is major disaster there is a company that takes care of deceased, Douglas Funeral Services is one of those.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:

Bob Small set off a SMART page Thursday afternoon at 14:30 to Alpha numeric and Nextel’s.  3 didn’t receive pages South Holland, Dolton, and Lynwood.

 

When you want your warning Siren’s to go off what is the best system to use to send the signal radio or telephone line?  Call Braniff Communications they can help you decide. Currently 8 towns have radio, 2 towns use telephone line.

 

Jim Dean called Tom Zimmerman’s office & State of Illinois about NOAA Weather Radios.  He was told once the 800mghz trunking is up and running 42.5 will be gone.  Illinois State EMA grants available through WEB page and STAR program.

 

EQUIPMENT:

Keep John updated on changes.

 

Received info from Country Club hills & Peotone. Motion to accept them into SMART by John Ranieri 2nd John Thomas.

 

John explained equipment book and SMART disk and it’s update and also how it should be used.  Mutual Aid agreement is in the book.  We would like to have them back by April.  Copy of ordinance to be passed at your council meeting also in front of book.  Homeland Security Plan paper is in the book.  Updated disk is in back of book, load SMART disk 1 & 2 then load update disk.  John will update the disk again in April if all info is given to him by April 1st.

 

SSMMA wants a pecking order to be made for each community need ordinance.  Needs at least 3 people max is 7.

Conference is April 18, 19, & 20 in Springfield.

Accountability Tag COMMITTEE:

Passport system will be used by SMART to help identify people that responded to a Mutual Aid callout.  This is also a safety factor so no one gets left behind.  Passport system information was passed out by Small.  One resource card 2 ID tags are a minimum.

 

Motion by Art Johnson to have SMART adopt the passport system and each town will purchase their own ID tags for vehicles and personnel.  SMART will buy the boards for the command centers.  2nd by Dean Bloom.  We need to have all Communities on board by June 2002.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

SMART Picture ID’s need to be to John Dobner by April 1st   (No Fooling).

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Peotone changed some info on SMART agreement.  The information is basically the same, but town wanted to clarify some info.

 

USEPA has compliance protocol for Hazardous Material.  Fire Departments will be able to check companies for compliance.

 

Crisis management for safe schools needs to be initiated by each community.  Bob Small gave out examples of handouts to all communities.

 

Crestwood’s communications center is operational.  They will be able to respond to SMART communities that call.

 

Tabletop discussion done by Dolton ESDA, setup situations by asking what would you do if Terrorist attacked community.  This does make your members aware of some situations.  Ask Kevin for town vulnerability report.

 

SMART Goals for 2002, read them and try to meet them.
