COMMUNICATIONS:

Joe Pilch set off a SMART page Thursday afternoon at around 15:01 to alphanumeric pagers & NEXTELs.  Actually 3 pages went out this week just to make sure the pager program is accurate.

We need to know everyone’s NEXTEL phone number and/or pager number.  Your direct connect code for NEXTEL is also useful to communicate at events or calling for assistance.

A decision was made on the Cook County response frequency.  Permission to use Cook County response frequency is granted when Cook County receives a SMART page for mutual aid.  Each community should get this frequency 153.815 in at least their first response vehicles.  We should start using this frequency February 1st.  When 2 or more communities are responding.

This frequency can be used for preplanned events too.  Cook County needs to know 14 days in advance and three or more communities must be responding.  If an emergency occurs during a preplanned event use of the frequency, the emergency takes priority to use the frequency.

In 2003 the use of IREACH will be enforced.  The frequency has been used as a chitchat channel before and that won’t be allowed.  Will County hasn’t heard that MABAS will be taking over the control of the frequency.  It is believed that the rules for its use will be enforced.

EQUIPMENT:

Keep John Dobner updated on changes, phone numbers, equipment, pagers, NEXTEL’s etc.

Three towns handed in equipment updates.  Joe Pilch will make sure they get to John Dobner.  Database won’t be updated till every Community hands in the form.  (Country Club Hills wanted a form, but there weren’t any left.)
